Ash’s Pokemon Characters
Ash and Pikachu are certainly well-paired, but there is no way that Ash is going to make it through all of his Pokemon championships and gym badges without a little more help… without a lot of help, actually. Ash has a number of Pokemon at his side helping with the hundreds of battles he has experienced. All are very important to Ash. But as a trainer he can only carry six Pokemon at a time. The six he carries determines the courses of the battle.
Pidove
Pidove is the first Pokemon Ash catches in Unova, and it battles to save Pikachu from Team Rocket. It evolves into Tranquil while helping herd the Venipede stampede in Castelia City. During an incredible battle with Mistralton Gym City leader Skyla, Tranquil evolves into Unfezant. It helps Ash earned the coveted jet badge and together they are a high-flying team.
Hawlucha
Better known as the forest champion, Hawlucha was always there to fight the good fight for the local Pokemon. When Ash gave Hawlucha some advice on how to incorporate its trademark stance in Flying Press, it knew it could learn a lot from Ash. So, it asked to join him on his journey.
Sandile
Ash met Sandile when it was digging holes at a resort to warn people that the geysers were going to burst. Behind its cool shades was a strong fighter with one match on its mind – Pikachu! The battle was so heated that it evolved into Krokorok. Later, with Ash by its side, it again evolved into Krookadile during an epic battle with Iris and Dragonite.
Charmander
After rescuing Charmander from a rainstorm, Ash nurses the fiery Pokemon back to health. It evolves two more times. As Charmander, it comes back to reunite with its old pal from time to time. Ash and Charizard have a heated relationship at times – it can be very temperamental.
Palpitoad
When a practice battle with some wild Foongus leaves their Pokemon pals sick, Ash and Oshawott search for Remeyo Weed medicine at the bottom of the lake. But when Palpitoad sees them, it defends its turf. This coaxes Oshawott to raise the courage to open its eyes underwater. With the first burst of aqua jet, it is able to control, it wins the battle. Then Ash catches his new pal, Palpitoad.
Scraggy
When Ash helps a school teacher with Trubbish trouble, she gifts him a Pokemon egg and out pops Scraggy, a Pokemon born ready to battle. Pikachu accepts its challenge, and it is welcomed into the world with a match. Although Scraggy cannot seem to win a round, that certainly never stops it from trying! In fact, its favourite way to greet someone isn’t with a hello, it is with a battle challenge.
Sewaddle
After Ash shares his food and sleeping bag, and saves it from being kidnapped, Sewaddle gladly travels with its new pal. While battling for the insect badge in its first gym battle, Sewaddle evolves into Swadloon. Later, when Ash and Swadloon are training, it evolves into Leavanny.
Snivy
Ash met this ninja-like Grass-type when it snuck into the campsite to munch on Cilan’s lunch. Impressed by Snivy’s skill, Ash was determined to catch it, but it kept slipping through his fingers. Finally, clever Snivy saw how kind Ash was to his Pokemon and it was happy to join Ash’s crew.
