The best Fortnite players have a wider range of skills. There are great snipers, great builders, great close-up fighters, but it is the players with a broad set of talents who will normally rise to the top.
The Snared Sniper shows he has got more than one bullet in his barrel. He uses a variety of long-range and close-up skills to take down a player who came dangerously close to killing him.
The lesson to learn here is that you need to think on your feet when one approach doesn’t work. When the star of this move finds that using one type of attack doesn’t bear fruit, he finds another way to attack the same problem.
Preparation is key. Our winner has a varied loadout that gives him different options for smoking out the defending opponent. He has also practised and practised the editing skills that finally lead to victory.
If you can master all these Fortnite skills, there won’t be many players out there who can stop you.
Our Snared Sniper, the disgustingly named Filthiest-Ginger is running across open land in the centre of the map when he suddenly gets clacked by a sniper’s bullet. A second one hits him, too, though neither is a headshot that would end his game. The filthy one struggles to work out where the fire is coming from…
Our filthy friend does the sensible thing – he builds a box to protect himself from the bullets and looks around. He finally woks out that the fire is coming from the mountaintop to the left. The sniper realises he has been rumbled and bravely decides to swoop down to finish the job. Ginger lands a couple of shots as his opponent glides down.
As soon as he lands, the opponent boxes himself in to protect against Ginger’s fire. He sensibly builds a flat roof tile and a pyramid roof tile, doubling his protection if Ginger decides to shoot him from above. Ginger realises that shooting him out of the box is probably not going to work, so he reaches for another weapon in his inventory.
Filthiest-Ginger lives up to his name by throwing a stink bomb onto the player’s box. Given Ginger landed a couple of direct strikes as the opponent glided down, his opponent hasn’t got the health to sit out the smoke bomb, so he is forced to make a break for it. He builds himself a new box on the back of the last one – and, of course, throws a roof on it.
With no more stink bombs left, Ginger is forced to change tactics. This time, he decides to get at his opponent by editing the roof tiles. He starts with the pyramid roof, turning it into a half-pyramid so he can get access to the flat roof that lies beneath it. It is a clever move because it is hard to defend against – re-editing takes longer than quickly building a replacement.
Ginger then edits the flat roof tile, leaving the quarter nearest him exposed. It allows him to whip out his shotgun and blast a shot at the now defenceless opponent below. It takes a second shot to finish him off, but for using a combo of smart defending, long-range shots, smoke bomb and smart editing, Ginger fully deserves his win.
